Number of delivery attempts vary depending upon the country. If first delivery fails, typically the delivery service leaves a note with code in your mailbox, using which you can call/online reschedule second attempt or pickup by yourself.

In The Netherlands:

  1. Postal service shall try to deliver it to your neighbours first. If that is not possible, you will receive a note in your mailbox stating the date and expected time for second delivery attempt.
  2. If the time is not suitable for you, you can reschedule the delivery by logging here or alternatively calling the respective postal service. There is no additional charge for rescheduling the delivery.
  3. If you are not available at the second delivery, your packet is delivered to the nearest post office where you need to pick it yourself. You would need to carry your Dutch ID (driving license, residence permit etc.) or Passport to collect the package.
